Main duties of the job

As the Approvals Finance Lead, youll work with senior leaders, including the Chief Finance Officer and ICS Directors, to drive financial strategy, planning, and transformation across the system. You Will:

Lead Business Case Development: Oversee the creation of robust business cases, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and compliance with governance standards.

Drive Financial Transformation: Develop an ICS-wide financial framework to support resource allocation, productivity, and efficiency, delivering better value and outcomes.

Promote Health Equity: Use Population Health Management data to inform decisions, address inequalities, and improve outcomes for the BOB population.

Champion Innovation: Support Green Plan initiatives, drive system-wide reconfigurations, and lead on financial benefits realization and impact modelling for transformation programs.

Collaborate and Influence: Build strong relationships with stakeholders to align efforts, foster innovation, and deliver integrated, high-value care.

  • Proven experience in strategic finance within the NHS or a similar complex environment.
  • Expertise in business case development, financial frameworks, and transformation.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills to navigate complex, multidisciplinary systems.

Qualifications

Essential

  • - Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • - Fully qualified and full Member of relevant professional body

Experience

Essential

  • - Experience in communications and stakeholder management
  • - Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals.
  • - Experience of contracting and performance management
  • - Expert knowledge of NHS National tariff payment system, and associated financial and information flows
  • - Experience of working within a complex and challenging environment, and managing demanding relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • - Understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and good working relationships.
  • - Evidence of planning and delivering programmes, projects and services on time using established project management techniques
  • - Previously responsible for a budget, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes and achieving financial target
