Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Clinical Coder/Receptionist/Prescription clerk to join our team. Applicant must be able to be flexible to cover annual leave and at short notice to cover sick leave.
Good I.T., interpersonal and communication skills are essential, together with GCSE's. Experience of clinical coding and medications is advantageous but not essential as full training will be given. As a member of the team, you must have the ability at times to work under pressure in a multitasking environment.
Main duties of the job
The following list of duties should not be regarded as definitive as they may be reviewed from time to time to take account of changing circumstances. Also, tasks and duties may be redistributed amongst the practice team as necessary.
Review all incoming correspondence and enter, using read codes, pertinent information into the patients electronic medical record in accordance with the coding protocol. This will include data highlighted by clinicians as well as data required to meet contractual obligations.

- Dealing with other healthcare professionals face to face or over the phone,
- Franking the post
- Issue repeat medications

- Deal with medication queries from patients on the phone
- Organise the medical record of patients whom you are coding, to harmonise problem titles, group symptom development and assign the appropriate status to medical information.
- Recognise own knowledge limits and seek advice from clinical or administrative colleagues as appropriate.
- You may be required to assist with note summarising in accordance with the summarising protocol.

Job responsibilities
Clinical coding of patient medical records from hospital clinical correspondence. Handling and issuing of medications from patient requests and letters coming from other health care providers. Daily reception duties of completing tasks, answering phone calls, helping patients, dealing with clinician requests.
Review patient records and accurately produce a summary of the patients medical history.
Accurately read-coding data on Emis/Docman into the patient record
Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions.
Review all clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with protocols.
Reviewing progress of summarising, ensuring practice targets are achieved.
File and store records as required.
Photocopy documentation as required.
Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner.
Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient healthcare records.
Input and extract data as required to support practice reports.
Handling and making sure the safe issuing of medication.
Answering and dealing with incoming phone queries.
Deal with visiting patients and handle their queries.
Ensuring all tasks are actioned and up to date.
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
Open and Close the premises with colleagues.
