Job summary
Due to staff changes we are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Health Care Assistant in a GP Practice or similar community setting. We offer a stable working pattern, usually over Monday to Friday with a late finish of 8.30pm on Thursday evening.
We are looking for longer shifts to cover Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday (with a 2030 finish time).
Main duties of the job
You will work with an established nursing team of our Lead Nurse / ANP and 3 Prescribing Nurses, a Long Term Conditions Practice Nurse a Treatment Room Nurse, an Assistant Practitioner and a Health Care Assistant in our modern purpose-built GP Practice.
You will enjoy working independently as well as part of a team, have good communication skills, want to learn and adapt with changes in the role and be able to work under pressure.Main duties include phlebotomy, INR, health checks for patients prior to Long Term Condition reviews, ECGs, infection prevention, visiting patients in their own home and assisting GP led contraceptive and minor surgery clinics.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Access to your own transport is required to enable you to carry out home visits.
Salary dependant on skills and experience.

Our practice is located in the market town of Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District. We have a patient list size of around 11,500 patients. Our friendly and motivated team has 5 GP Partners, salaried GPs and an established Nursing Team who are supported by a friendly and efficient Admin Team. We are active participants in the Kendal Primary Care Network with multiple ARRS roles.

Responsible to The Partners of Captain French Surgery
Summary
To assist in the provision of nursing services to include treatments, preventative care, screening and patient education, and assist the GPs and nurses in the provision of general and specialist medical services.
The concept of Primary Care, the organisation of General Practice and the roles played by other members of the team need to be understood. Good communication and relationships must be established and maintained with patients, colleagues and employers.

Job Responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs andnursingstaff, within the boundaries of clinical protocols
Maintain Infection Prevention and Control standards including cleaning of equipment and clinical areas
Maintain stock in GP rooms, rotating stock as required to avoid waste
Prepare and maintain environment and equipment before during and after patient care such as during the performance of minor operations
Vaccine/cold chain storage including fridge temperature monitoring recording and download of data for audit purposes
Phlebotomy
Chaperone patients and clinicians as required
Raise awareness of health and well-being
Assist in the assessment and surveillance of patient health and wellbeing including those with long term conditions
Processing of urine samples
ECG monitoring
Vaccinations such as influenza, shingles, pneumonia and vitamin B12 for eligible patients under PSD
Safe disposal of clinical waste in accordance with infection prevention and control
Maintain accurate records
Assist in audit, CQC compliance, QOF etc
Confidentiality
In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately.
In the performance of the duties outlined in the Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers.
