An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time HCA to work at Broomwood Health Centre. We are a busy practice in the Crays with approx. 11,100 patients.
We are dedicated to patient-centred care and making a positive difference in our community.
We are part of the Crays Primary Care Network
We use EMIS Web as our clinical system.
Salary is dependent on experience.
Hours: 2-3 days per week
Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will operate under the direct supervision of the Nursing Team, strictly adhering to established practice guidelines and protocols. They will support the clinical team in delivering prescribed patient care programs effectively and efficiently and will collaborate closely with all team members at various levels to ensure seamless care delivery
Providing assistance to general practitioners as required
Support Practice Nurse Clinics, such as LARC clinics, when needed
Administrative duties, including QOF administration, will be part of the role
Perform phlebotomy tasks
Conducting New Patient Health Checks, NHS Health Checks and Chronic Disease reviews
Blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
Administering specific vaccinations
Managing wound care and dressing checks
Urinalysis checks
Removal of sutures and clips
Chaperone support
Ensuring medical equipment aligns with infection control protocols
Managing clinical waste collections / ensuring sharps bins are replaced when necessary
Adhering to clinical guidelines and protocols, seeking guidance from the Nursing Team or clinicians for any clinical decisions
Offering advice and information on general health matters
Restocking of clinical rooms with the appropriate levels of supplies and equipment
The HCA will maintain a professional demeanor, demonstrating respect, dignity, and a compassionate approach towards patients at all times

Our team is diverse, with a range of clinicians and Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) contributing varied levels of expertise to enhance team dynamics. Additionally, our strong nursing team plays a key role in managing our chronic disease patients. We also offer a GP-led Level 2 Sexual Health Service to our practice population.
We take great pride in having pioneered a protocol that allows our experienced administrative and clinical coding teams to review all incoming documents, ensuring that only necessary documents are allocated to doctors, thus optimizing their time and efficiency.
As part of a well-established Primary Care Network (PCN), we work alongside a variety of ARRS staff, including Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacist Technician, Social Prescribers, Health & Wellbeing coach, Care Coordinators, Paramedics, Nurse Associates, Practice Manager and a Digital Transformation Lead, all contributing to a holistic approach to patient care.

Qualifications
Essential
- Qualifications
- GCE Pass Level or equivalent in English and Maths
- Care Certificate - preferred
- Experience
- Previous experience in a general practice setting
