Job summary

This is a great opportunity to join a busy and varied Clinical Neurophysiology team at Salford Royal Hospital. The successful candidate would have experience in video-telemetry for both diagnostic and pre-surgical evaluation of patient with epilepsy. Experience in Stereo EEG would be desirable but not essential and this may include covering some weekends.

Experience in Intraoperative monitoring (IOM) would also be desirable to help support IOM service delivery for both orthopaedic and neurosurgical cases.

To provide and support Neurophysiological services off site for satellite clinics as and when required.

Undertake shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Neurophysiology service in the absence of the Neurophysiology manager/deputy manager.

Participate in other Neurophysiology procedures to support continuous improvement of patient centered services in line with CPD and service requirements, both here at SRFT and off site as required.

Work collaboratively and cooperatively within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that service needs are met.

Assist with the delivery of training, education, supervision and assessment of trainee/junior healthcare science staff.

Main duties of the job

Undertake routine and advanced Neurophysiological investigations as part of the Neurophysiology services provided on site at Salford and at off site clinics where required.

Contribute to provision of specialist services including video-telemetry, stereo EEG and intraoperative monitoring services.

Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Contribute to the day to day running of the Neurophysiology department including management support in the absence of clinical service manager and deputy. Assist with support and management of junior staff.

Ensure continual professional development and contribute to the training of staff within the Neurophysiology department along with other healthcare professionals.

Knowledge, Training, Experience

Essential

  • Practical experience of routine Neurophysiology investigations

  • Minimum 6 years experience working within Neurophysiology
  • Competence with IT systems
