The Day Surgery Unit is looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and becoming part of a highly motivated, supportive team.
We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working, and flexible individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses excellent communication skills to join our team as a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering direct care to patients attending the Day Surgery Unit in a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You must be able to prioritise workloads, work independently, and collaborate as part of our well-established team, all while upholding high standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job
The role of a Healthcare Support Worker within the Day Surgery Unit includes;
- admitting patients to the unit
- escorting patients to theatre
- and looking after the patients post operatively until they are discharged home on the same day.
You will work with a range of staff, assisting with pre operative assessment, taking patient observations, performing ECGs and phlebotomy.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience
Desirable
- Care certificate
- English & Mathematics at GSCE grade A-C (9-4) or level 2 functional skills
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Customer care experience
- Knowledge of Policies, procedures and Health and Safety issues regarding daily working with blood and body fluids
- Numeracy and literacy skills
- Moving & manual handling skills
Desirable
- Experience in Day Surgery
- Completion of ECG training
- Completion of venepuncture training
- Experience of performing MRSA screening
