Job Description
Job summary
We currently have a vacancy for a new care package providing care in the home environment. This is a part time post working 36 hours per week, working hours are Monday-Friday and Sunday 09:00-15:00.
Full training and support will be given.
You will be delivering care to children or young people within the home environment. This involves being trained to competently deliver specialist care procedures, e.g. tracheostomy care, home ventilation, enteral feeding and other clinical skills dependant on individual needs.

Main duties of the job
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in the assessment and care of children with complex nursing needs.
To communicate at an appropriate level for individual children, young people and their carers
Undertake nursing duties, as agreed with the Orchard Service who are responsible for the child/ young person. This may include ventilation, tracheostomy, enteral feeding etc.
To understand individual plans of care to ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of a change in condition or problem occurring.
Assist with the personal care and comfort of the child and to maintain the childs dignity and privacy at all times, including manual handling when necessary.
Assist in maintaining a safe environment for the child, family/carers and staff, including safe use of equipment, reporting any malfunctions urgently.

Experience

- Experience in working with children, particularly those with special needs and their families.
Qualifications

- Relevant qualification e.g. NNEB, Diploma in Childhood Studies, NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Ability to complete in depth training re complex nursing care for individual children/ young people.
- The post holder will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
