Are you an experienced Nursery Nurse looking for a new opportunity in a rewarding, growing service? The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unithere at NSFT s seeking a motivated Nursery Nurse to join our existing team

As a Nursery Nurse, you will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team providing quality services for patients who are admitted to the Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit, under the supervision of a registered professional.

Your role will be to assist mothers with perinatal mental health problems to care for their babies, ensure that the emotional and physical needs of the babies are met and engage in activities to promote the mother-infant relationship.

As a team, we are all committed to making a difference to the lives of our service users, their babies, and families in the antenatal period and for up to two years following birth.

Main duties of the job

The Kingfisher Mother and Unit provides inpatient care for the management of mental health problems that complicate pregnancy and the postpartum year. We work closely with other mental health services, jointly supporting women.

The core purpose of the team in which the post-holder will work, is to deliver high quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment-based approaches to mothers and infants. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide perinatal support to antenatal and post-natal mothers in an inpatient setting, promoting and modelling a high standard of care at all times within the birth to five framework.
  • Participate in the assessment of needs, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plan for mothers and their babies.
  • Understanding the stages of development, assisting when difficulties are experienced and empowering families to be confident in their parenting and care.
  • To be part of the multi-disciplinary team utilising skills and knowledge in supporting and advising mums across all domains of caring for their baby.
  • To maintain confidentiality and adhere to local policies at all times in line with Trust Policy.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CACHE level 3
  • Diploma in Childcare & Education (NNEB)
  • Diploma in Childcare Studies (BTEC)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education

Desirable

  • Video Interactive Guidance

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within community services
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Desirable

  • Experience of delivery groups
  • Experience of delivering training
  • Experience of working within a Perinatal Mental health Services
  • Working with Service Users with mental health needs

Skills

Essential

  • Competent clinical skills i.e. assessment, therapeutic interventions.
