Job summary

We require a proactive proactive and hardworking staff to work as part of a team in a production line environment within Linen Services.

To be part of a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff undertaking a number of different tasks which include the handling of soiled linen, the decontamination of linen in accordance with HTM01-04, folding and packing of clean linen either manually or utilising equipment, working in various locations within the laundry to ensure a high quality service is delivered to meet the needs of the service users.

The post holder will be based at either the City or QMC Campus as required in accordance with the needs of the service.

Hours of work are 37.5 per week working between the hours of 11h45 - 19h45 Monday to Friday including bank holidays. Some weekend working may be required.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that all soiled linen is stored in appropriate areas and within Health and Safety guidelines.

Maintaining quality of work in accordance with the documented procedures - undertaking quality checks on linen.

Able to make straight forward judgements, investigate problems, e.g. fault finding, stock issues, staff cover.

To perform laundry duties including; packing of clean linen, sorting of soiled linen, programming/emptying of washer and dryers.

To carry out checks of stock levels on wards and departments using electronic devices and adjust delivery levels accordingly.

Record daily issues to wards and departments using the Benchmarker software.

To work with a flexible approach bearing in mind the needs of the service and staff.

To ensure that a clean protective uniform is worn at all times when on duty and to use relevant Personal Protection Equipment in accordance with the policies provided by the Trust.

To report any signs of infestation to the Linen Services Team Leader.

To be involved in development training by acting as a buddy to new starters by demonstrating own duties.

Completes timesheets or similar records.

Undertake cleaning audits and surveys as necessary to own work.

Demonstrates own activities to new or less experienced employees - supports induction on new starters.

Applicants must be physically fit and able to carry heavy loads. The role requires you to be active for prolonged periods of time which include the handling of soiled and the processing, folding and packing clean linen to ensure a high quality service is delivered to meet the needs of the service users.

The post holder will communicate verbally and face to face with members of staff throughout the Trust patients, relatives and the general public
