Job summary

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invite applications for the post ofLocum Consultant Respiratory Physician sub-specialising in Sleep Medicine and ventilatory failure . This is a 12 month appointment to provide care and management of patients being investigated with and treated for Sleep disorders and/or ventilatory failure.

Main duties of the job

Participate in MDT presentations, discussions and outcomes management.

Assist with recruiting patients to clinical trials, tissue banking and research methodology.

The post holder will also be encouraged to submit work / attend national / international meetings in Thoracic Medicine.

To share responsibility for the training of specialty trainees, clinical fellows and medical students in conjunction with consultant colleagues, ensuring that College and local requirements are met.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • CCT or equivalent in Respiratory Medicine

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Sleep Medicine

Experience

Essential

  • Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement and prioritise clinical need. Critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition, commitment to self-directed learning and reflective/ analytical approach to practice.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of principles of research and evidence-based practice, with the potential to support the RSSC academic programme.
  • Evidence of participation in audit.
  • Evidence of contribution to teaching.
