Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Medical HR Team Leader to support the establishment, implementation, evaluation, and reporting on a range of medical recruitment activities. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of the medical workforce within our Trust.

As part of a dynamic team, the successful candidate will oversee medical workforce recruitment strategies and ensure that the recruitment processes meet the Trust's high standards. This includes supporting the team in day-to-day operations, providing guidance and advice, and taking the lead on the development and execution of recruitment events.

Interviews will take place on Friday 2nd May 2025.

Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate the workload of the Medical HR Team, ensuring recruitment and payroll deadlines are met.
  • First point of contact for the team on recruitment queries and assist in the resolution of issues.
  • Provide first-line advice and guidance on recruitment processes, HR policies, and employment matters.
  • Guide the team in designing creative recruitment advertising that meets the Trust's corporate policy.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks (contracts, DBS checks, occupational health forms, etc.) are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues and key stakeholders to manage medical workforce recruitment.
  • Organise and plan recruitment events, ensuring they are effectively executed and that all stakeholders are informed.
  • Lead on recruitment events, particularly for medical & dental roles, to ensure a streamlined process for national and international candidates.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, producing reports and suggesting improvements.
  • Oversee pre-employment checks for medical staff, ensuring compliance with NHS standards.
  • Provide timely progress reports on medical recruitment activities.
  • Engage proactively with candidates throughout the recruitment process to ensure a positive experience.
  • Work with the team to review and improve recruitment processes, focusing on candidate engagement and retention strategies.
  • Foster innovation to enhance workforce retention, including exploring internal rotation options and career development opportunities.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Recognised qualification in English & Mathematics e.g. GCSE or equivalent
  • NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent relevant qualification or training and experience

Desirable

  • Supervisory/Line Management qualification
  • Recruitment Training
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Personal Attributes & Skills

Essential

  • Good communication skills with demonstrable experience in Customer Service/ Recruitment/HR
  • Ability to manage conflict and sensitive situations
  • Ability to work to tight time scales
  • Able to manage own time, prioritising and making decisions to ensure strict deadlines are met
  • Good analytical and numerical skills

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant administrative experience in a busy HR Department/Recruitment Team/Medical HR Team
  • Working knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation
  • Comprehensive use of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel
  • Experience in a busy Recruitment/Medical HR Team, with recent experience of providing a customer focused service and giving advice to managers on a wide range of Recruitment/HR issues
  • Knowledge of Medical & Dental recruitment processes
  • Experience of working with recruitment agencies

Desirable

  • Understanding of employment law in relation to recruitment processing
  • Working knowledge of Medical & Dental Terms and Conditions
  • Working knowledge of International Recruitment Code Conduct
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience in using ESR
  • Experience in using NHS Jobs, Trac or other e-recruitment systems
  • Supervisory experience
