Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic, well-organised, and pro-active medical secretary to work as part of the Integrated Learning Disabilities Service Administrative Team, providing comprehensive medical secretarial support to consultants and other clinical staff within the Integrated Learning Disabilities Service, hosted by the London Borough of Enfield. The postholder will be seconded to work in the London Borough of Enfield, within the Integrated Learning Disabilities Service.
You will need a working knowledge of all key IT systems, with an in-depth knowledge of MS Office. Excellent communication/organisational skills are required along with the ability to work quickly and efficiently on digital systems. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a good eye for detail, and be a team player. This is a responsible post requiring a high degree of accuracy relating to inputting of patient and appointment details. You will be required to use your own initiative in all aspects of secretarial/clerical work to efficiently prioritise work and meet deadlines, as the service requires
The post involves communications with GP's, Consultants and other medical/support services, whilst still complying with policies on privacy and confidentiality. Therefore, the post holder must be organised, be able to work to strict targets, have excellent IT and customer care skills as well as being able to communicate at all levels
This is an office-based role.
Main duties of the job
Some of the core tasks:
- providing comprehensive medical secretarial support to the clinical learning disability service in a timely and efficient manner, meeting deadlines
- preparing medical letters and reports. This is completed using a digital system therefore you should be able to learn new systems quickly and efficiently.
- daily diary management for Consultants and Resident doctors
- booking of patients into clinic slots; booking interpreters and other support services, as required, to support clinical sessions.
- minuting Business/Team Meetings and any other relevant meeting
- General administrative functions and office tasks such as minute taking and confidence with office 365.
The role requires someone who is multi-skilled, with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office suite skill set. Previous NHS experience in a learning disability or social care environment would be highly regarded.
