Permanent, part time position
We are seeking to appoint a Medical Secretary for the Gastroenterology Department based at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
This post will offer an exciting opportunity to become part of a service that is rapidly changing and developing. The post is for 32.5 hours.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic team player, be fully IT literate with excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Knowledge and experience of Meditech and audio typing software are desirable, additional tasks involve other administration duties within the department.
Main duties of the job
The Production of patient/client information re letters via audio typing to assist Health Care Professionals in the day-to-day management of patient care.
Working to deadlines.
Communicating well with staff of all grades and disciplines. Accurately record and complete patient information, maintaining
Confidentiality at all times.
Undertaking audio transcription, including medical terminology.
Liaising between Trust staff and outside agencies as required.
Receiving and dealing with telephone / e-mails in a timely and professional manner.
Minute taking at meetings when required to do so.

- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act
Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE English (or equivalent), Grade C/Grade 4 or above
Desirable
- RSA III typing or equivalent
- ECDL, Clait or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Recent experience working as a medical secretary including medical audio transcription
- Recent experience of Microsoft Word processing and spreadsheet packages
- Recent experience using a database
Desirable
- Previous experience in the organisation of minutes, including minute taking and the typing of minutes and agenda
- Knowledge of the Talking point system for typing letters
- Experience of waiting list management
