Job summary
Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) are looking for a Mental Health Practitioner to join our existing team, as we expand in our friendly and innovative practices serving over 85,000 patients within our 10 sites in North Somerset, Bristol & South Gloucester.
As a Mental Health Practitionerin Primary Care you will provide early assessment, intervention, and support for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties whilst working collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will exercise advanced clinical expertise, acting within their professional boundaries, providing advanced clinical skills and advice. The post-holder will look to improve patients mental health outcomes by demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients within their care. Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary surgery team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures whilst providing expert support and advice.

Job responsibilities
To deliver a high standard of patient care as a practitioner in mental health, using specialist knowledge, and a broad and in-depth theoretical knowledge base utilising autonomous clinical skills.
Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual treatment plans for patients including assessing patients suitability for psychological interventions and medical treatment.
Working with patients to support engagement with appropriate services and treatment, which may include onward referral to secondary mental health services or sign-posting to other psychological therapy services within Primary Care e.g. NHS Talking Therapies.

Qualifications
Essential
- RMN qualification or Masters in Clinical Psychology
- Current NMC/GPCH registration for Adult Mental Health
- Non-Medical Prescribing
- Evidence of ongoing professional development

- Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice
- Interpreting and implementing local and National policy agendas for health
