Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a professional, passionate and committed B5 MSK therapy practitioner to join our adult musculoskeletal physiotherapy team in North East Essex. You will embrace innovation and integrated working and will be committed to following best practice to ensure patient-centred care, encouraging patients to self-manage their conditions and support registered clinicians in their day-to-day role. This will involve administration and supervision duties alongside direct patient contact, both 1:1 and within group settings.We are looking for people with experience working in a health or fitness environment. Ideally who have knowledge and skill in the assessment and management of patients, presenting with a wide range of MSK conditions. You will be a strong team player with excellent communication and health coaching skills.

Part Time hours would be considered.

You will be willing to travel across north east Essex to meet the needs of the service with an expectation to work in Clacton hospital, Mill road therapy centre and the EOC building at CGH when required, for meetings, supervision and administrative duties.

Access to a car and valid UK driving licence are essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the integrated team to deliver therapeutic input to patients in a clinic setting with the aim of returning them to maximum independent living, within a stimulating environment actively promoting self-management on all activities of daily living.You will also be expected to supervise technical instructors (B4) and assist with students and work experience students as part of the Physiotherapy team.Work with colleagues across health, social care, mental health and voluntary sector to ensure holistic and joined up delivery of care.Empower patients to make decisions about their own care and encourage them to exercise their rights and choices, signposting them to relevant community and voluntary services and supporting patient's carers and assistants with management of risk.Working with Physiotherapists and other members of the team, you will be an expected to lead exercises classes, hydrotherapy sessions (exercise in water) and see patients individually. We offer a well-established supervision and appraisal structure and we have a firm commitment to CPD and evidence based practice. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical skills and knowledge.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive experience at band 4 therapy assistant practitioner level or similar post
  • Extensive Experience of working within an MSK environment
  • Experience of reablement approach
  • Experience of practice evaluation
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • Experience of working in both acute and community settings
  • Wide range of clinical experience across the acute and community setting

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full driver's license
  • NVQ level 3/Diploma level 3
  • Be undertaking a foundation degree or have a degree in a relevant subject / or equivalent clinical experience.

Desirable

  • Information technology qualifications
  • Completed foundation degree

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of relevant legislation e.g. Social care and NHS reforms etc.
  • NVQ level 3/Diploma level 3
  • Be undertaking a foundation degree or have a degree in a relevant subject / or equivalent clinical experience
