An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy team working for Dorset HealthCare University NHS Trust at the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne. As a key member of the team you will find the experience challenging, rewarding and varied.
You will be working in a supportive team and environment. The Outpatient Physiotherapy team have strong links to the local community in the area, linking with local leisure services and community groups. Within Dorset HealthCare Trust we work closely with the MSK Orthopaedic Interface service (known as Dorset MSK) and our local hospitals. Through these links, we can further your experience to expand your knowledge and skills and provide career development opportunities. As a University Health Trust we make the most of our links to Bournemouth and Winchester Universities and the AECC. We are expanding our involvement in research projects. You should be a committed, dynamic, motivated professional having good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise your work and excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job
To work autonomously ( with appropriate support ) to provide skilled assessment and treatment/management for a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including those with complex needs. Referrals are received from GP, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, MIU/A+E, self referral and other NHS colleagues. When appropriate onward referral to other services may be required.
To support the development of students and other colleagues . You will be involved in In-house training
To assist the Team Lead in the management of the Physiotherapy Service i.e service development

Person Specification
Qualifications/Education
Essential
- Bsc Hons/Masters in Physiotherapy
- o NHS Experience in Msk physiotherapy
- o Evidence of relevant pre/post graduate training in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- o Evidence to show basic competency in musculoskeletal physiotherapy enabling the post holder to assess, diagnose and treat own caseload seeking assistance and advice as required
- Evidence of knowledge of current best practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy to inform clinical decision making.
Job specific experience
Essential
- Evidence of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment within the NHS
- Evidence of assessment and treatment skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy setting
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to write accurate patient records using SOAP format
Managerial experience
Essential
- Ability to be well organized and manage time effectively to manage a demanding workload to agreed timescales.
Desirable
- Evidence of supervising others i.e less experienced staff and students
Communication
Essential
- Ability to communicate effectively despite potential barriers to communication.
- o Good communication skills with a wide variety of people
