Main duties of the job

The post holder will take an active role in learning and organisational development activities. Scoping, designing, facilitating, and evaluating development interventions which support teams and leaders through change and team interventions. You will take a lead on various elements of our leadership and talent programmes and will support in the embedding of our tools and resources in order that all managers are utilising them. You will have experience in learning design and facilitation, as well as exposure to various types of OD interventions and will have an aptitude for learning and further developing your skills.You should be a strong communicator, with previous experience in delivering and developing internal communications messages to engage our people.

About us

Workforce and Organisational Development (WOD) are responsible for developing our people strategies, policy, practice, and delivering WOD services which support strategic objectives, improve staff engagement, comply with legislation, and support organisational culture development and the embedding of organisational values.

As part of OD team you will design and facilitate a range of learning and organisational development interventions across the organisation which support the Trust Strategy. You will be working across the full cycle of learning and OD work; from scoping and contracting, data gathering and designing appropriate and impactful solutions to delivering engaging interventions, as well as evaluating short-, medium- and long-term impact.

Job responsibilities

Specifically the role will take a lead on the overall management, design, delivery and evaluation of Learning and OD interventions in the areas of talent, leadership and team development in line with our Trust Values and NHS People Plan priorities.

With a passion for developing individuals and teams, you will be an experienced L&D/OD professional, committed to enhancing the colleague experience.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification in Learning/ OD/ HRM/ Organisational Psychology or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD in a Learning, OD or related role

Desirable

  • MBTI/Insights Practitioner (or other similar behavioural tools)
  • Coaching or Mentorship qualification
  • Communications or Engagement qualification.

Knowledge & experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of key concepts and best practice in OD
  • Experience of supporting organisational culture and embedding values
  • Experience of contributing to organisational change and deploying OD interventions to support change
  • Experience of assessing organisational culture through a variety of options
  • Experience of working with teams to develop their effectiveness using a range of interventions
  • Knowledge of key concepts relating to adult learning such as learning styles
  • Experience of the full learning cycle of Learning Needs Analysis, design, delivery and evaluation

Desirable

  • Experience of utilising psychometric instruments to support team effectiveness
  • Understanding of the NHS and key workforce challenges
  • Experience of using coaching to support individual and team Experience of the full learning cycle of Learning Needs Analysis, design, delivery and evaluation development

Essential

  • Demonstrate the capability to analyse and interpret data to produce recommendations
  • Group facilitation skills virtually and in person with the ability to build rapport and communicate with large groups of diverse staff
  • Communication skills in large groups and on a one to one basis with the ability to build rapport and give a clear message to people at all levels of the organisation
  • Team member skills with the ability to deliver key objectives through collaboration with others
  • Able to demonstrate professionalism with the ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust values even when under pressure
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt and change plans particularly when facilitating large groups to meet their needs
  • Ability to produce highly professional presentations and other learning materials
  • Ability to produce clear summary OD evaluation reports
  • Ability to represent organisations priorities and challenge the views of others who demonstrate behaviour contrary to Trust values
  • Ability to demonstrate positive working relationships that produce well-formed outcomes
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems and find solutions
