Job summary

This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy team as pastoral support.

The post holder will receive a bespoke training package from the Trust and the University of Sunderland as part of the Partnership to deliver academic programmes at the Academy.

The post holder will provide pastoral support to staff undertaking education and training at the Academy, devising, developing and coordinating pastoral and learning support plans.

Main duties of the job

  • To facilitate the implementation of pastoral support for staff accessing education and training through the academy delivered by the Trust, and facilitate the development of employment support skills in managers and teams.
  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oLevel 4 qualification in an appropriate subject or equivalent portfolio of experience.

Desirable

  • oRelevant Vocational Qualification for assessment and verification purposes (D32/33; A1; D34 or V1)
  • oRelevant Teaching Qualification e.g. PTTLS/DTTLS/PGCE/ENB 7318 or equivalent
  • Coaching/mentoring qualification
  • Safeguarding knowledge

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge of Learning and education best practice gained via previous experience.
  • In depth knowledge of post employment support requirements, a good understanding of the Equality Act (2010)
  • A sound knowledge of Learning and education to be able to advise managers on relative aspects of Education (internal and external).
  • Knowledge of pastoral support interventions to be able to advise managers on relative aspects of learning and development

Other requirements

Essential

  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
