Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Patient Champion / Administration Coordinator to work across in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and Emergency Department (ED).

We are seeking a motivated, committed, dynamic and forward-thinking individual who will join our respectable administrative team.The post holder will need to have effective communication skills, ability to work under pressure, good team player and excellent customer service skills. In order to support the smooth running of the department.

This role will sometimes require you to work shift patterns out of hours including evenings, and weekends. Therefore it is essential that candidates should be prepared to work evenings, weekend when applying for this role.

Main duties of the job

The fundamental role of the Patient Champion is to encourage members of the public to access the appropriate healthcare/services through providing information about services available and how to access them. The Patient Champion will inform and enable people from different communities to find the right source of help for themselves and their families to deal with minor ailments.

The post holder will also be responsible for for providing comprehensive administrative support and may be the first point of contact for patients and visitors attending the UTC and ED. You will be expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, care, courtesy and respect when greeting patients.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years NHS experience or equivalent receptionist experience role
  • GCSE (5 grades A-C) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent time keeping and team player

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act
  • IT literate with good keyboard skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an Emergency Department or a high pressured clinical environment
  • Experience of working to strict and tight deadlines
