We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Wealstun on a Bank basis. HMP Wealstun is a Category C men's prison with an operational capacity of around 1000. The prison has good transport links, as well as a free onsite car park.

This is a fantastic opportunity start or continue your career in Pharmacy and Healthcare - no previous experience is necessary, and we will support you with lots of training and development opportunities. Hours This is a bank position, and we offer healthcare 7 days per week so shifts will fall between Monday - Sunday, so a flexible approach is needed. Salary

This position is offered on a bank basis, and you will receive £15.25 per hour.

Main duties of the job

As our new Bank Pharmacy Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Support the onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
  • Second check medication before dispensing to patients on medication rounds
  • Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
  • Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Work in the medication hatches on the wings
  • Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals

Our new Bank Pharmacy Support Worker will have:
  • No experience is necessary - we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Pharmacy, and keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but isn't essential
  • Ideally have medicines handling experience, although this isn't essential
  • Be a hard worker, diligent, with a high attention to detail
