Job Description
Job summary
To be responsible for the delivery of a customer focused and efficient portering service within HMP prisons. This includes working as part of a Team and using own initiative to respond to situations in a professional, effective and proactive manner.
Main duties of the job
To escort healthcare visitors around the establishment as requested and act as a point of contact for visitors to healthcare including any healthcare contractors.To ensure all healthcare clinics and consultation rooms are stocked with the required equipment and stationery.Transport urgent pathology and specimen samples to relevant hospitals as required.To support the administration team, undertaking appropriate administration duties as required to include filing, scanning and photocopying.To undertake the daily collection and distribution of mail including Healthcare applications and communications to the wings.To be responsible for the movement of medical records, clinical waste and officer furniture and equipment as required by the Healthcare team.To provide regional portering support on an as and when required basis.January 2022Following appropriate Health and Safety training, carry out Health and Safety checks ensuring that all risk assessments are complete and up to date, attend prison health and safety meetings and follow through on appropriate actions

Person Specification
Previous experience of working in a related customer/patient focussed environment

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

- Previous experience in a healthcare environment working as a porter
