Are you an Allied Health Professional who is passionate about learning and want to support students and the future workforce in the organisation? If so read on. We are seeking an enthusiastic Practice Placement Facilitator to join the Trusts NMAHP Education team, the role is specifically for an Allied Health Professional within the Organisation.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with students from predominantly AHP backgrounds and a passion for supporting their education. We are looking for someone who can confidently use their effective communication skills to engage students and communicate well with colleagues in Higher Education Institutes.
You need to have experience in the area of teaching and supporting students and be able to support the assistant practice placement facilitators and other member of the NMAHP Education team, working well as part of a multidisciplinary team working closely with partners in NMAHP Workforce as well as others.
Main duties of the job
Functions as an autonomous practitioner across the organisation adhering to professional codes of practice and responding appropriately within policy and guidance to clinical and professional issues as they arise within all placements, seeking support from the Lead Professional for Education or Head of NMAHP as necessary.
Input, store and retrieve data in relation to Annual Educational Audit, Trust mentors (or equivalent) and appropriate staff training requirements.
To deliver formal teaching sessions, using suitable teaching aids as necessary and continuously evaluate this.
Development of strategies which will ensure that maintenance of a current Professional Registration and the credible professional experience/expertise required to continue to support mentors (or equivalent) and students within the practice placement setting.
Support cohorts of pre- registration students, apprentices during their clinical placements
Offer professional coaching to mentors (supervisors/assessors) in practice
Coach and provide guidance to the Assistant Practice Placement Facilitators
Contribute to the development and implementation of audit tools, data collection and analysis ensuring that results have a continuous improvement plan.

Job responsibilities

The overarching aim of the post is to assist in meeting the responsibilities shared by Health Education England working across the North East (HEE NE) and NHS Trusts to provide high quality multi-professional practice placements in sufficient numbers to meet the requirements of Allied Health Professional (AHP) students.
The post holder will work under the direction of the Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Education (NMAHP) and will be expected to use their initiative, analytical skills and judgement. In collaboration with the education providers ensure the management of the portfolio of student placements within the Trust.
The role will include working in collaboration with Practice Placement Facilitators (PPFs) both within the Trust and also in other Trusts in order to share student AHP capacity, modelling of best practice and to continuously enhance the learning opportunities and support strategies for students.
To ensure that placement areas meet the standards for practice placements as identified by the Health and Care Professional Standards (HCPC). Undertake a lead role in auditing and monitoring individual placement areas within the organisations portfolio of practice placements, ensuring the HEE Multi-Professional Education Quality Standards are met.
Work in collaboration with education providers and/or identified Clinical Link Tutors/Programme Leaders to continuously review and maximise the student experience by ensuring structured support strategies are in place. To take the lead in maximising placement capacity in order to support the increasing student numbers. Identifying new areas for student placements and expanding capacity where possible within existing placement areas.
The post holder will lead the quality of learning and support within the clinical environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for practice supervisors/practice assessors (mentors/preceptors/Educators) and students/learners on AHP programmes.
The post holder is expected to work across Trust sites; including South Tyneside and Sunderland acute and community services and Durham Treatment centre.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Allied Health Professional (eg, podiatrist, Dietician, Physiotherapist).
- Registered with HCPC.
- Degree in health related subject.
- Good IT Skills.
- Practice Assessor qualification (teaching qualification or equivalent).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Good knowledge of contemporary issues in Practice Education.
Desirable
- MSc in health related subject.
- PGCE.
