Job summary
To provide administrative support to the clerical and clinical staff in the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to cross-cover their administrative colleagues during periods of absence.
The main administrative functions of this role include general ward clerk duties, arranging pre-op appointments for patients and supporting the departments with administrative duties/requirements.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a clerical service to the Pre-operative Assessment Unit - undertaking work-related correspondence, photocopying, filing, retrieval of documents and patient case notes, ward clerking duties, according to the requirements of the service.
- To provide advice and information on outpatient appointments and clinic arrangements. Communicate all relevant information to patients and ensure that they receive adequate notice of their appointments and any subsequent amendments
- Develop the ability to use the required electronic systems for correspondence, recording, retrieval and maintenance of information, as and when required.
- To liaise closely with the surgical medical secretaries regarding daily and weekly Pre-Op Assessment capacity and escalate any concerns to the Pre-op Pathway Navigator.
- To book Pre-Op assessments for patients in accordance with the National RTT targets and in line with the surgical bookings of patients.
