Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our existing Reception Team providing high levels of patient care to our registered list of approx 8800 patients.

You will be working in our busy reception office to ensure that our patients are provided with a highly customer focussed service to meet their individual needs.

Job Description Receptionist

RESPONSIBLE TO: The receptionist will receive instructions from, and beresponsible to, the Practice Manager.

HOURS OF WORK: 4 sessions / 20 hours per week - Tues 8am-1pm / Wed/Thur/Fri 1-6pm. The hours of duty for this post allow for flexibility in order to cover periods of high demand, holiday and sick leave of existing staff.

RATES OF PAY: As per contract.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

In order to facilitate Doctors and Nurses in attending to the needs of the patients, the post holder will :

  • Welcome patients at the main reception desk, assist with their enquiries or direct accordingly.
  • Answer telephones assist with enquiry or direct calls appropriately, record and pass on messages to members of the Primary Health Care Team in accordance with Practice Protocol.
  • Book appointments as appropriate via contact over the telephone or in person.
  • Deal with queries according to guidelines laid down by Practice Policy.
  • Process patient deductions and prepare paper notes for return to PCSE.
  • Process requests for the return/collection of patient notes from offsite storage provider
  • Process repeat prescription requests received online/via email.
  • Varied general administration duties as required, in order to aid the achievement of targets.
