Job summary

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.

Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers

Main duties of the job

Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

Process personal, telephone and online requests for appointments

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

Signposting patients to the correct service

Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient mannerInput data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

Dealing with incoming and outgoing post

Requesting and returning medical records

Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

About us

Cambridge Avenue & Messingham Medical Centre has a dedicated team of 5 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Nurse Prescriber, and a well established clinical and admin team.

We are a training practice for GP Registrars and Medical Students from Hull & York Medical School.

Job responsibilities

Due to internal promotion we are looking for up to a admin assistant to join our team.

Working hours will include -

09.00 - 17.00 Monday - Friday.

Working across both our sites, Cambridge Avenue and Messingham.

Hours to be confirmed at interview.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in Healthcare, namely primary care would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience in all Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service
  • Good attention to detail/work on own initiative whilst adhering to policies/procedures

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care/GP practice.
  • Experience of SystmOne Healthcare Primary Care system
  • Experience of Reception / front of house
