Job summary

The Recruitment Service Manager will manage the Recruitment Team and ensure that the standards for the Team are at a high level, ensuring a value for money service, operating within Employment Legislation, Trust Policies and Procedures, and best HR practice, leading the Team to provide high levels of customer service at all times.

Following recent transformation of the recruitment function, the manager will continue the work to develop a first contact service which provides high quality, efficient and effective HR and recruitment advice, and supports key stakeholders.

The post holder will be required to work from our site at Priory Business Park, Bedford for a minimum of 3 days per week

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for leading the Recruitment Team and overseeing the day-to-day operational management of the Team, working within agreed local and national policies and procedures relevant to recruitment and contractual processes.

The post holder will ensure the efficient and effectiveness of recruitment systems and processes, and that customer service is key to candidate experience.

To support in ensuring that SLAs are implemented and adhered to, and support in the implementation of continuous improvement and maintenance of Recruitment Key Performance Indicators.

To provide specialist advice and guidance to managers and staff on the interpretation and application of the NHS Employment Check Standards to include verification of identity, right to work, employment history, and reference checks, professional registration and qualification checks, criminal record, vetting and barring, and occupational health checks, promoting best practice and addressing any issues of non-compliance as appropriate.

  • Significant experience of working within Recruitment delivering end-to-end recruitment campaigns
  • Working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience of developing, implementing, and monitoring systems and processes to support the delivery of an effective and efficient service
  • In-depth experience of using IT Microsoft Office and recruitment systems (TRAC), and Electronic Staff Record (ESR)

Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of NHS Employment Checks Standards

  • Ability to work with managers and staff in a busy and changing environment to agree appropriate, effective, and pragmatic solutions to service needs.
  • Awareness of current and developing Recruitment Legislation relevant to the role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional HR Qualification at Master's Level, or equivalent and/or equivalent experience within the field of Recruitment
  • Knowledge of specialist area (Recruitment) acquired through degree, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
