Job summary
The Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) is looking for a Band 6 registered Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our experienced community nursing team.
The nursing team works closely with our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) colleagues which include Psychiatry, Psychology, Positive Behaviour Support, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Art Therapy and Physiotherapy, to offer holistic assessment and interventions. Nursing is a key element of the team's clinical pathways - including those for dementia, epilepsy, complex physical health, end of life care and challenging behaviour. We are active in supporting services across Newham to ensure people with LD receive excellent health care and to reduce health inequalities.
Main duties of the job
Working full time (37.5hrs per week) the successful candidate will be experienced in working in partnership with people with LD, their families and carers and supporting them to live successfully in the community. The applicant must be able to work autonomously, prioritising and planning their own workload and be actively involved in decisions relating to clients with complex healthcare needs. Flexible working hours can be negotiated upon successful employment and all clinical staff have the option to work from home one day a week.
