Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and diligent researcher to facilitate a mixed-method sub study within a cancer clinical trial. The RADIUS Research Facilitator will be responsible for coordinating the qualitative interview component of the RADIUS study. The RADIUS study will explore how people with the blood cancer multiple myeloma experience receiving complex information about the genetics of their myeloma and its response to treatment as part of the RADAR clinical trial. The role primarily involves recruitment of people with myeloma enrolled in RADAR for the RADIUS qualitative study and carrying out qualitative interviews.
The post holder will be based between UCLH and UCL, working closely with the Research Department of Behavioural Science and Health at UCL.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with experience of project management and/or qualitative research experience/training. We are looking for someone who is hardworking with great initiative and who wishes to gain valuable experience working on an innovative person-centred research project. This role could suit a clinician, research practitioner or academic seeking hands on research and project management experience. We are keen to support early career clinical academics/researchers who may be interested in the role for research career development.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of the post-holder will include:
liaising with multiple trials sites to approach participants and provide recruitment packs,
enrolment and reporting progress to the research team.
conducting in-depth qualitative interviews
contributing to the analysis of findings, alongside other members of the research team.
developing statistical analysis plans, and undertaking primary and secondary analysis of
patient reported outcome questionnaire data.
The post-holder will be supported by the research team and additional training will be provided
as required.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level in an area of health or social science, arts & humanities or psychology.
- Training or significant experience in project management.
- Understanding of and/or training in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
Desirable
- Higher degree in an area of health or social science, arts & humanities or psychology
- Use of statistical and/or qualitative data management software
- Knowledge of cancer and cancer service provision in England.
- Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines
Experience
Essential
- Experience of interpreting complex information.
- Experience of conducting research.
Desirable
- Experience of patient involvement/engagement, and involving patients in research.
- Experience of setting up/conducting research in the NHS
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience of working with people living with cancer or significant medical treatment
