We are currently recruiting for a number of vacancies across our Children's Homes based in Tiverton and Okehampton.

Our Childrens Homes are registered with Ofsted and provide support for children and young people with complex needs, ensuring their line individual care plans and needs are met.

The ethos of the service is to provide children with a home-from-home experience and enhance and promote their life experiences and independence. You'll also be helping them to prepare for the next stage of their life.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

  • Supervising the running of shifts within the Home.
  • Provide supervision for staff.
  • Supporting children and young people achieve their personal wishes and goals.
  • Assisting with daily tasks and life skills.
  • Striving for aspirational outcomes for the children.
  • Creating fun and positive atmosphere.
  • Organising and taking part in activities.
  • Being proactive and innovative to seek new methods to engage.

Personal qualities:

  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Remaining calm in challenging situations
  • Able to implement boundaries.
  • Able to adapt and respond quickly.

If you have the above qualities but may not have all the practical skills yet, we will support you through training and development in line with your personal development plan and actively promote succession planning.

This is an enjoyable and rewarding position for someone who is caring and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and their families.

Pay and enhancements:37 hours per week, plus enhancements (up to £4,000 per year).

  • Starting rate is £15.33 per hour, rising to £16.93 per hour.
  • Overnight rate is £20.44 per hour, rising to £22.57 per hour.
  • Saturday rate is £22.99 per hour, rising to £25.39 per hour.
  • Sunday and bank holiday rate is £30.66 per hour, raising to £33.86 per hour.

We work on a 3 shift per 24 hours basis (AM/PM/Nights or sleep ins) and our homes are open up to 365 days a year.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Ofsted Childrens Homes Regulations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent recognised by Ofsted.

Desirable

  • D1 Bus Driver.
