Job summary

Healthcare background ideally Nurse, Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
Confident with phone consultations with patients to discuss results and advise on lifestyle or medication changes.
Main duties of the job
Processing blood, urine and swab tests and results promptly and efficiently as they arrive electronically.
Arranging follow-up and recalls for patients if needed either on phone, text or with a member of the clinical team.
Counsel patients regarding their test results if further investigations or changes in management are needed.
Ensure ICE forms are ready for any repeat tests unless part of annual review or ad hoc diary dates.
Identify abnormal results which need GP follow up- either urgently that day by Duty Doctor if requesting clinician is not in that day, or by requesting clinician.
Complete and set up new diary dates for high-risk drugs which are being monitored.
Complete and set up diary dates for gestational diabetes, PSA monitoring and MGUS.
Prescribe medications such as B12 injections, statins, thyroxine and antibiotics or request that the Clinical Pharmacists does if not a non-medical prescriber.
Complete audits around improving patient care for example patients with previous haematuria audits.

Appropriate training will be offered to the suitable candidate.
Job responsibilities
- Ensure that test results are actioned promptly and as per guidelines
- Ensure documentation in notes clearly explains information given to patient and reflects plan to aid communication between team members and GPs.
- Review patients notes to ensure their medical history is taken into context of their results
- Manage urgent bloods which are abnormal as appropriate; this could be by liaising with the Prescribing team or Duty Doctor
- Forward abnormal blood tests which can wait to requesting or usual GP.
- Ensure ICE forms are completed in advance of repeat blood tests to avoid patient delays or complaints
- Cross cover when team members are on annual leave.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- You will require
- GCSE English or equivalent grade C or above
- GCSE Maths or equivalent grade C or above
- Excellent communication skills
- The courage to make decisions which will help shape future care
Desirable
- Non Medical prescriber qualification
- Nursing Degree or equivalent qualification
- Current NMC registration
- A willingness to develop your potential and this role
- Knowledge of SystmOne and AccuRX
