An Exciting opportunity has arisen within the Rheumatology Department at the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, based at Musgrove Park & Yeovil District Hospital sites for two enthusiastic highly motivated nurses to join an evolving teamThe role requires working within the outpatient clinic setting across Somerset with patients on disease modifying drugs biologic therapies under the care of the Rheumatology DepartmentAs a registered nurse the applicant will be responsible for supporting the lead nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team ensuring that our service users needs are met through the delivery of high quality careThe successful applicant will demonstrate high standards of work at all times, be self motivated and efficient, good communication skills with a team approach but also demonstrate the ability to work independently in all aspects of patient careAs a fully integrated trust we can offer a collaborative approach to your career with us there is an opportunity to rotate across all sites and directorates to ensure your skills and knowledge are as broad as they possible can beIndividuals should be willing to develop further any specialised skills and knowledge relating to the specialist areaDevelopment and training within this role will be offered and prioritised

Main duties of the job
Independently run nurse led clinics initiating and following up patients on rheumatology treatmentSupporting patients to understand their diagnosis and treatment options and promoting self managementDevelop practical skills to perform recognised Rheumatology assessmentsAnalysing and interpreting investigation to ensure patient safety on initiation of treatments and on going management
Supporting medical and nursing rheumatology colleagues to monitor and manage disease drugs and blood monitoringSupport ongoing management of patient care via a daily telephone advice line available to patientsunder the care of the rheumatology department
Participate in prescription management to enable patients to receive their treatment in a timely mannerHave excellent communication skillsHave excellent time management skillsTeam working with doctors nursing and admin staff is essential to ensure an excellent patient experience of Rheumatology
Contribute to the delivery of the rheumatology nursing service including being involved in service development and audit
Experienced Band 6 Rheumatology Nurses will provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the department in the absence of senior members
