Job summary

Westminster Medical Centre are seeking a highly motivated Salary GP to join our friendly patient focused practice. The ideal candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of the practice whilst being responsible for the provision of medical services to our practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team

Main duties of the job

  • provide high-quality medical care to the patients in line with primary care contracts.
  • Manage long-term conditions effectively inc. referrals and prescriptions
  • Provide a mix of telephone and face to face appointments
  • Prescribe generically in line with local and national guidelines
  • Process referrals, prescription requests and other administration tasks.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using EMIS web whilst adhering to best practice clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support with continuous enhancement of the practice.
  • Contribute and lead on certain practice audits and local service initiatives.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas including QOF
  • Participating in clinical meetings, case discussions and continuous professional development activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider practice team, sharing workload fairly.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Managing home patients and producing care plans
  • Participating in annual individual performance review.
  • Take responsibility for own development, learning and performance.
  • review and adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk

About us

Westminster Medical Centre is based in the North of Liverpool with a list size of 6555 and we are part of North Liverpool PCN. Our Team is consists of two GP partners, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, 2 long term locums, 2 First Contact Practitioners (Physio), 1 practice nurse, 1 HCA and 1 GP assistant and a dedicated administration, reception team.

We are looking to appoint an individual who is compassionate, skilled, and dedicated to providing high quality care to our practice population with varying medical conditions. You will be fully supported by the partners and colleagues as we are committed to providing comprehensive support to all team members, ensuring you have the resources and guidance necessary to succeed in your role.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

Provide high-quality medical care to the practice population in line with primary care contracts

Manage long-term conditions effectively including referrals and prescriptions, acute presentations, and preventative healthcare services

Participate in telephone triage,

Provide a mix of telephone and face to face appointments.

Prescribe generically in line with local and national guidelines, using Scriptswitch when required.

Process referrals, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate clinical records using Emis Web whilst adhering to best practice, clinical guidelines and audit recommendations.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support with continuous enhancement of the practice.

Contribute and lead on certain practice audits and local service initiatives.

Take responsibility for specific areas including QOF.

Participating in clinical meetings, case discussions and continuous professional development activities

Take responsibility for ongoing professional development.

Participate in reviewing significant and near-miss events using the practice structured analysis.

Work collaboratively with the wider practice team, sharing workload fairly.

Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Managing care home patients and producing care plans

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development

Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance.

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.

Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation process

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • * Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and license to practice in the UK
  • * Registered on a medical performers list

Desirable

  • * Knowledge of Emis WEB

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • * Ability to work autonomously and efficiently
  • * Knowledge of the NHS and understanding of clinical governance
  • * Strong clinical skills and good time management skills with a proven ability to handle a primary care workload.
  • * IT proficiency
  • * Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

  • * Experience in using Microsoft Office Programmes
  • * Experience with Primary Care Clinical System EMIS Web.
