Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to join our practice team. The role involves:

  • Diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of health conditions.
  • Conducting patient consultations, examinations, and prescribing medications.
  • Referring patients to specialist services when necessary.
  • Providing preventative care, health education, and chronic disease management.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and working within NHS guidelines.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses and healthcare professionals.
  • Participating in practice meetings, audits, and continued professional development.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
  • Provide other personal medical services to meet identified patients need.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred, or referred from other healthcare works within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
  • Work within current ICB policy for prescribing.
  • Maximise the effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to an agreed standard.
  • Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand written prescriptions whenever possible.
  • To take part in areas including health research, clinical auditing and data collection.
  • Contribute to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately.
  • Screening the patients for health education.
  • Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary.
  • In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working with primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical Council, all other Royal Colleges and Councils applicable to the staff within the Practice, Department of Health, ICB, CQC, and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Member of the GMC Register
  • Experience of working in a primary care and urgent care environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills written, verbal & particularly listening
  • Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability
  • Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations
