Job summary
St. Johns Group Practice currently have a vacancy for a salaried GP. You would work 6 sessions per week, over Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with our patient list of just over 8,800. The sessions would be in core hours only.
The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high standards of care, excellent communication skills and who will contribute to the development of the practice. Involvement with GP training is encouraged as well as personal development and special interests within primary care.
Job Purpose
To use professional skills and knowledge to provide a high standard of medical care to patients
Contribute to the delivery of the service in line with the service specification for the service/clinic specification
Respond to escalated clinical matters from the service team and provide complex case support
Effective clinical administration, audit and management, appropriate to the role
Contribute to the service team by being an effective team member

About us
The practice is in the village of Balby, Doncaster. We are part of Doncaster Central PCN. We offer access to the NHS pension scheme, free staff parking and a generous annual leave entitlement. We are a long-established training practice, including GP registrars and medical students. We have good transport links with access to the A1 motorway (less than 2 miles) and the M18 (less than 3 miles).
Our team consists of; 3 GP partners and 2 salaried GPs. Practice Manager. Finance Manager. Nurse Manager, 3 nurses, 1 nurse associate and 2 healthcare assistants. Admin Supervisor, 3 administrators, 1 medical secretary. Reception Supervisor, 1 prescription lead, 8 receptionists. We also have in-house clinical pharmacists and physiotherapists that work alongside our team.
Job responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
Undertake all the duties associated with the role of General Practitioner. This should take into account physical, psychological and social factors when diagnosing illness, treating diseases and recommending treatment
Collect, record and maintain patient information. Information is recorded into the patients registered Practice record and this information should be recorded accurately, using templates and read codes if necessary
Work in accordance with the Service clinical procedures and protocols alongside any other additional requirements from outside organisations including GMC, ICB etc.
Request, perform and/or interpret tests, records, reports and examination information
Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication and other appropriate medical care
Promote health education in conjunction with other health care professionals and have an awareness of the local health and social issues impacting the cohort of patients seen within the Service
Refer patients for further opinions and interventions
Compile and issue computer generate and hand written acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribe in accordance with the Doncaster Prescribing Formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate
Carry out clinical audits as appropriate
Liaise with other health care professionals when required
Recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and communicate effectively with team members, patients, carers and other colleagues and health care professionals
Maintain medical knowledge and skill level in line with your Personal Development Plan and for the safe delivery of clinical care within the Service
Attend training sessions as appropriate and required
Undertake any other duties requested by the clinic and company within professional and general competence

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Qualified GP MRCGP general practitioner certificate of completion of training CCT
- Full GMC registration
Desirable
- Worked in General Practice
- Understanding of Patient Demand in deprived areas
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and quality issues
- Understanding of the role of teamwork in providing quality services
- Experience in Chronic Disease Management
- Experience in maintaining patients records at an acceptable standard for audit purposes
- To understand the patients perspective in developing and delivering quality services
