Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen here at Birtley Medical Group for a salaried GP to join our growing multi-disciplinary team.

This post holder will work as one of a team of GPs, NPs and Nurses delivering general practice services to patients at Birtley Medical Group. We provide comprehensive primary care to a population of approximately 16,000 patients from purpose-built premises within a supportive and friendly environment. At all times the post holder must act in a professional manner consistent with the code of conduct expected from medical practitioners representing Birtley Medical Group and the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Range of general practice consultations including telephone triage, e-consults, face to face, home visits, urgent and non-urgent appointments.

Overseeing and participating in chronic disease management.

Our GP surgeries consist or 12 patients AM and 12 patients PM with a maximum of 2 home visits.

We are open on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening - 1 session a week would be to work one of these evenings with some flexability needed to cover GP holiday and sickness.

About us

We are a large practice with approx 16,000 patients, based in the center of Birtley.

The team consists of:

6 partners, 7 salaried GP, 4 trainees, 2 F2's, 4 Advanced nurse practitioner, 1 practice nurses, 4 HCA's, admin team & reception team.

We are a training practice and encourage staff to strive towards continued professional development

Job responsibilities

CLINICAL DUTIES

Range of general practice consultations including telephone triage, e-consults, face to face, home visits, urgent and non-urgent appointments.

Participate in fair share of on call am/pm sessions.

Dealing with administrative tasks

Assisting with optimisation of QOF

Participation in audit, clinical meetings and team cohesion

MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

Work as part of a team to ensure QOF targets are met.

Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, time in meetings and clinical audit where required.

Liaison with voluntary agencies and multi-disciplinary teams in both the community and secondary care.

TEACHING AND TRAINING

We are a training practice for medical students, GP Registrars and F2's. Participation in teaching is encouraged (but by no means mandatory)

GENERAL DUTIES

To attend all mandatory training courses and any specific to your role as discussed with your clinical lead.

To contribute to our regular clinical team meetings.

To follow standard policies and procedures for Birtley Medical Group.

Maintaining regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety stipulations.

Qualifications
