Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen here at Peaseway Medical Centre for a salaried GP to join our growing multi-disciplinary team.

This post holder will work as one of a team of GPs, NPs and Nurses delivering general practice services to patients at Peaseway Medical Centre. We provide comprehensive primary care to a population of over 12,000 patients from purpose-built premises within a supportive and friendly environment. At all times the post holder must act in a professional manner consistent with the code of conduct expected from medical practitioners representing Peaseway Medical Centre and the NHS.

Range of general practice consultations including telephone triage, e-consults, face to face, home visits, urgent and non-urgent appointments for registered and (at times) unregistered patients.

Overseeing and participating in chronic disease management.

Telephone Triage duties identifying patients whose problems can be dealt with either by phone or with a prescription, or triage into NP or routine appointments.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CLINICAL DUTIES

  • Range of general practice consultations including telephone triage, e-consults, face to face, home visits, urgent and non-urgent appointments for registered and (at times) unregistered patients.
  • Overseeing and participating in chronic disease management.
  • Telephone Triage duties identifying patients whose problems can be dealt with either by phone or with a prescription, or triage into NP or routine appointments.
  • Participate in fair share of on call am/pm sessions.
  • Dealing with administrative tasks
  • Assisting with optimisation of QOF
  • Participation in audit, clinical meetings and team cohesion

MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Work as part of a team to ensure QOF targets are met.
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, time in meetings and clinical audit where required.
  • Liaison with voluntary agencies and multi-disciplinary teams in both the community and secondary care.
  • We would encourage an active role in shaping further development of the practice's services in any direction that you wish where patient care is benefited.

TEACHING AND TRAINING

  • We are a training practice for medical students and GP Registrars. Participation in teaching is encouraged (but by no means mandatory)
  • We welcome involvement in teaching of 1st, 2nd and final year medical students from Newcastle University.
  • Assisting the practice in maintaining GP training status.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • To attend all mandatory training courses and any specific to your role as discussed with your clinical lead.
  • To contribute to our regular clinical team meetings.
  • To follow standard policies and procedures for Peaseway Medical Centre.
  • To attend performance and development appraisal meetings and liaise closely with partners to meet any development needs or areas of concern.
  • Maintaining regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety stipulations.

Experience

Essential

  • A patient centred approach to care

Qualifications

  • Degree in Medicine
  • Current GMC Registration
  • Registered on the national performers list
