A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a GP to join our forward thinking, friendly practice.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking Salaried GP to work 6 sessions in collaboration with our existing friendly team to deliver Primary Care Medical Services to our patient population.
Our practice is well-respected and established with just over 11,400 patient list size.
Based in the heart of historic market town of Selby and surrounded by glorious countryside this practice is perfect for someone looking to relocate or wanting to take the next step in their career.
With an established leadership team this practice can offer a superb working environment that offers excellent support. We are a training practice for both GP registrars and medical students and regularly receive excellent feedback from these posts. Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
We offer a flexible approach with 6 sessions per week available, and weekly protected GP time.
The GP will be:
- Registered on the performers list of a local PCT
- Registered with the General Medical Council
- Have medical indemnity cover

We have an incredibly supportive team of 3 Partners and 3 Salaried GPs and provide a full range of services under the PMS Contract which include minor surgery, sexual health, maternity services, and host a wide range of on-site activities such as retinal screening, social prescribing, first contact physio, counselling, respiratory clinics, diabetes prevention programme and long-term condition mental health worker

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion specifically including requests for reports from insurance companies, government agencies and others. The post-holder will take their share of on-call surgeries, baby clinics and any other incidental activity that may arise from time to time.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
Providing counselling and health education.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:
Working as part of a team of General Practitioners to facilitate the Practices commitment to teaching and training medical students, junior doctors and nurses as required.
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
Ensuring annual NHS is appraisal is undertaken.
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
