We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our mental health team at HMP New Hall based in Wakefield.

HMP New Hall is a female adult and young offenders institution offering medium level of security with a population of 344 females.

The mental health team consists of a team lead, 3 x senior mental health nurse, 1 x learning disability nurse, 1 x mental health nurse, 1 healthcare assistant, 2 mental health practitioners. The mental health team have a office based in within the healthcare department however you will be mainly based on the prison wings conducting clinics, assessments days and dealing with case loads.

Hours

The site offers a 7 days service and rota's are done 1 month in advance
  • Monday Friday - 8am - 6pm
  • Weekends and Bank Holidays 9am - 5pm
  • 1 weekend in 5

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £42094 - £47466per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

  • NMC Registered Mental Health / HCPC - Social Work England
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
