Job Description

Job summary

Pharmacy Technician Band 4 to 5 progression (depending on experience):

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and hardworking Pharmacy team in our automated premises at Farnham Road Hospital in Guildford (GU2 7LX). We are a multi-site organisation with inpatient units here in Guildford, Silverwood Unit in Chertsey and Meadows, West Park in Epsom. We also have our Research and Development Team based at Two Bridges in Chertsey (where clinical trials are held).

Based mainly at Farnham Road Hospital, this role will include medicines reconciliation, dispensing for inpatients and outpatients, final accuracy checking, involvement in the clozapine supply process and supporting our clinical trials work. We are therefore looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational abilities, who is multi skilled and can work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

Whilst previous mental health experience would be an advantage it is not essential, and we can support you to develop your knowledge and skills in this area of growing interest.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have a BTEC and NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in Pharmacy Services and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

An Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification is an essential attribute of the Band 5 role. However, if you do not have this accreditation, you can join us as a band 4 Pharmacy Technician and progress to a band 5 on completion of an appropriate accredited course, which will be a work-based qualification. Once you have gained the qualification and the necessary further experience you can progress to a band 5 senior pharmacy technician.

We welcome applications from people who are working within primary care or secondary care and would like a change of setting or speciality. If you have the commitment to make a positive difference for those people who use our services then we would love to hear from you.

The department is open Monday to Friday and there is no other weekend working required. Although this is a full-time post, part time applicants and flexible working arrangements will be considered in accordance with our Trust Policies.
