Job summary

Following a retendering process, the children's service is due to be transferred to the new provider on the 1st of April 2025. Given this post sits within the transferring service, in line with the legislative requirements, the successful candidate will be part of the TUPE transfer along with other colleagues.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapists, with a special interest in working with preschool children aged 0-5 years and their families. You will primarily work as a member of the team covering South West Surrey in either Guildford or Farnham locality.

Main duties of the job

This is a challenging, varied and rewarding role. Day to day you will be conducting assessments, writing reports and running therapy sessions (groups / individual) for preschool children; including children with language delay, social communication & interaction differences, down syndrome, speech difficulties, complex needs. You will predominantly work in one locality in South West Surrey

As part of your role you may also be involved in:

  • Delivering training to parents, nursery school staff and other professionals.
  • Supporting and line managing less experienced SLTs and/or SLTA
  • As a service we firmly believe that the best services for the children we serve come out of effectively training and supporting our clinicians.

You will be supported by the following:

  • Regular group supervision, managerial supervision and a well-established appraisal system
  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills and to supervise less experienced members of staff
  • Being involved in local and service wide projects with your colleague
  • Opportunities to work alongside others
  • A 2 week induction period where you will have the opportunity to observe and shadow your team, including access to a buddy.

As a team, we all need to be able to travel between sites across Surrey, therefore being a car driver and owner is essential

Successful candidates will need to be enthusiastic and motivated. Good communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills are essential. You must be a team player but be able to work autonomously and have the ability to champion the needs of your patients.

Flexible working arrangements can be requested and will be considered in relation to service needs. A full driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Qualifications

  • B.S.C Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Speech & Language Therapy
