We are looking for a Senior Support Worker - Complex Trauma Pathway (Melksham CAMHS)

As a Senior Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in shaping this pathway and offering exceptional care to children and young people facing significant challenges.

Main duties of the job

This a 36 hour position will be based within Melksham CAMHS, working as part of a skilled and compassionate Complex Trauma Pathway team. You will play a vital role in assisting clinicians in their work with CYP and their families, delivering psychoeducational materials, facilitating therapeutic groups, and supporting service evaluation through data collection and audit.

This is an opportunity to join a strengths-based,trauma-informed service at an early stage of its development. The role will allow you to contribute to shaping a pathway that embeds positive partnerships with key adults and networks, improving outcomes for young people who have experienced complex trauma. The pathway aims to provide consultation, supervision, and trauma-informed interventions across CAMHS teams in B&NES, Swindon, and Wiltshire.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of trauma-informed psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinician.
  • Support psychoeducational work with young people and their families, including preparing and distributing relevant materials.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic groups alongside qualified clinicians.
  • Assist in the administration, distribution, and analysis of Routine Outcome Measures (ROMs) to support service evaluation.
  • Contribute to clinical audit, research, and data collection to inform ongoing development of the pathway.
  • Support training initiatives for CAMHS staff and professionals from other agencies.
  • Work within a multi-agency framework, collaborating with schools, social care, and other key services to promote a coordinated, trauma-informed approach.

What We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience and a passion for supporting young people with trauma-related mental health needs. Essential criteria include:

  • NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent qualification/experience) in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health difficulties, preferably in a clinical or care setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively in emotive environments.
  • Experience supporting young people and families through psychoeducational or group-based interventions.
  • Ability to work independently within a structured supervision framework.
  • Experience in data collection, research, or audit processes.
  • Ability to travel between sites and attend regional meetings as required.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working in a CAMHS or NHS mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the impact of trauma.
  • Experience using clinical outcome measures and digital health record systems.
  • Additional training in trauma-informed or psychological interventions.
