Main duties of the job
Provide clinical and strategic leadership across the ADHD service, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care.
Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of prescribers and clinicians, fostering a culture of shared learning and collaboration.
Oversee day-to-day service delivery, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and internal values.
Manage complex and high-risk ADHD cases, prescribing appropriate treatments in line with NICE guidelines.
Support recruitment, induction, retention, and professional development of ADHD service staff.
Implement evidence-based clinical practices and service improvements aligned with patient needs and service objectives.
Develop integrated care pathways in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Lead on clinical governance, including audits, safeguarding, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
Identify opportunities for service innovation and contribute to ADHD-related research and knowledge advancement.
Deliver and support ADHD-specific training programmes to enhance clinical expertise across the team.
Collaborate closely with the Neurodevelopmental Leadership Team to expand service reach and impact.

The RoleWere seeking an experienced and passionate ADHD Service Lead/Prescriber to lead our expanding ADHD clinical service. This role is perfect for a clinician with a strong ADHD background and a passion for service improvement, innovation, and integrated care. You'll play a key role in shaping the future of ADHD provision, supporting prescribers, and ensuring safe, effective care.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy
- Lead the ADHD service, aligning delivery with national guidelines and local vision.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to prescribers, encouraging continuous learning and shared best practice.
- Take the lead on managing high-risk cases and clinical escalations.
- Collaborate with the Neurodevelopmental Leadership Team to shape strategic priorities and growth plans.
- Act as the services clinical ambassador, promoting awareness and understanding of ADHD.
Service Delivery & Patient Care
- Develop and implement evidence-based ADHD care models and treatment pathways.
- Prescribe medications, including controlled drugs, in line with NICE guidance and best practice.
- Monitor service quality and outcomes, addressing bottlenecks, prescribing risks, and patient safety concerns.
- Coordinate with external partners to establish seamless care pathways across services.
- Oversee complex care plans and ensure continuity of care.
Training & Development
- Design and deliver training to improve ADHD knowledge and prescribing confidence across the clinical team.
- Ensure all staff are fully trained in legal frameworks, safeguarding, and up-to-date clinical practice.
- Lead recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development of ADHD service staff.
Clinical Governance
- Monitor prescribing activity, lead audits, and implement service improvements.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
- Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives relating to ADHD.
- Lead on the development of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures tailored to ADHD care.
- Registered healthcare professional with current prescribing rights (e.g., nurse prescriber, pharmacist, or other appropriate registration).
- Extensive experience working in ADHD services or neurodevelopmental care.
- Proven ability to lead clinical services and manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of NICE guidelines, clinical governance, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills.
