Job summary

The Social Care pathway provides a truly integrated, recovery focussed service to local people of South Staffordshire aged 16 and over, who are experiencing significant and disabling functional mental health difficulties. Our social workers are core members of the integrated mental health pathwaysand are highly valued and respected in their role supporting the recovery journey for adults with significant mental health needs.

We are supported by strong partnerships and working relationships with local independent service providers and voluntary agencies. We pride ourselves on providing a responsive, reflective and effective service to the communities of South Staffordshire.

We currently have an opportunity for a Level 3 social care professional and would welcome applications from experienced and knowledgeable social workers who are also qualified AMHPs and registered with Social work England.

Please note the base will be negotiable due to working across South Staffordshire.

Main duties of the job

This post will have a particular focus on safeguarding adults from abuse and neglect as set out in s42 of the Care Act (2014), and its associated statutory guidance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with a 'can do' attitude and a passion for people.

You must have leadership and management skills, excellent multi-agency partnership working abilities and be a team player with excellent communication and IT skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA)

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA stage (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Qualified and Registered Social Work Practitioner
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in relevant professional or managerial role.(e.g. Stage 2 AMHP Qualification, Social Work Post Qualifying Award)
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or Best Interest Assessor (BiA) status OR willing to work towards within a defined timescale
  • Evidence of ongoing continued professional development

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in management and/or leadership
  • Leadership or other organisational development training

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in operational and/or leadership role in the NHS or Local Authority delivering the relevant statutory functions.
  • Experience of managing a social work service, complex projects and/or delivering clinical/practitioner services for adults
  • Experience of leading and delivering service developments and successfully managing organisational change.

Desirable

  • In-depth knowledge of local commissioning and provider context including health, social care and education.
  • Experience of teaching social work both undergraduate and post graduate
