We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian (Band 6) to join our large, friendly and dynamic dietetic team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). We are pleased to be advertising a full-time (37.5 hours/week) permanent position for a Specialist Dietitian (Band 6) to work within the Speciality & Integrated Medicine (SIM) and Respiratory Dietetic Team based at St Jamess Hospital.
The LTHT SIM and Respiratory Dietetic team provides inpatient dietetic care in the specialities of general and acute medicine, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases and care of the older adult.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills to work as an integral member of our dietetic team.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for a busy clinical caseload covering a mix of clinical conditions (with a focus on oral and enteral nutritional support) and you will be expected to input into multidisciplinary team ward rounds/ meetings. Clinical experience in acute and respiratory medicine, older adults and infectious diseases would be an advantage.
In addition to clinical work there is an opportunity to lead within the team on areas such as student training, investigations & staff supervision.
As part of this role you will contribute to the supervision and development of rotational band 5 Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant based in the team and will contribute to placement provision for A, B and C Dietetic learners and Apprentice Dietitians.
There will also be opportunities to be involved in departmental and MDT initiatives/ working groups, in the planning and delivery of nutritional education to health care professionals and in service development.

To provide part of a professional Nutrition and Dietetic care service within a Specialist area. This includes advice to in-patients, out-patients, all healthcare staff and participation in the training of student dietitians. Shows initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the Clinical Dietetic Manager in the day to day management of the department.
The post holder will:
- Manage own case load to a level agreed with supervisor/line manager.
- Be involved in the provision of education and training to healthcare staff, patients, care providers and students.
- Be a key member of the multidisciplinary care team to provide integrated dietetic care.
- Shows initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the clinical dietetic managers in the day to day management of the department.
- Deliver training to healthcare staff, dietitians and students.

Essential
- Experience of working as a dietitian within an acute healthcare setting
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of oral nutrition support and enteral feeding
Desirable

Qualifications

- HCPC Registered Dietitian, please provide registration number.
