Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly & supportive teams providing Maternity Cover Speech and Language Therapy to adults in outpatient clinics and as part of the Community Stroke service.
The post is split between our SLT Outpatient & Community Team based at the County Hospital and the Community Stroke Service which operates out of our offices in Belmont, and involves visiting clients in their homes. You will therefore need to be a driver with access to your own transport.
Previous experience of voice therapy is not essential but would be an advantage, as would a post-graduate dysphagia qualification.
Main duties of the job
To assess, treat, support individuals referred to the services above and otherwise manage the two caseloads
To work alongside SLT and MDT colleagues
To support and direct an SLT Assistant
To participate in or provide training for clients, carers or other professionals

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential
- High level of general education, leading to entry to professional training
- Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
- Professional license to practise
Skills Knowledge & Abilities
Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate complex and delicate information in a timely and sensitive way where there are frequent barriers to understanding and/or acceptance.
- Ability to relate theory to practice
- Ability to support students and other professionals
Desirable
- Knowledge of appropriate therapeutic use of computer software.
- Ability to perform a basic swallow assessment
Experience
Essential
- Experience of managing own large and complex caseload
Desirable
- Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Use of alternative and augmentative communication
