We are looking for committed individuals with excellent organisational and leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to lead and support the team and to undertake a wide range of administrative duties in tandem with clinical duties.

The successful candidate will demonstrate criteria set out in the Job Description and Person Specification. Experience working in an outpatient clinic setting would be an advantage but not essential.

The candidate will be based in Wexham Park Hospital.

Frimley North Outpatients has four main sites.

Wexham Park Hospital Slough

King Edward VII, Parapet Breast Unit, Windsor

St Mark's Maidenhead.

Sites are operational between 0800 -1830 hrs Monday to Saturday.

The Candidate may be required to cover any of the four sites if required.

The Outpatient team support multiple speciality clinics such as Oncology, ENT, Rheumatology, Breast, Orthopaedics, trauma Allergy, Gastroenterology and Colorectal clinics. Sleep clinic, cardiology and Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

clinical leadership, supporting the senior team to achieve a high standard of evidence based care, procedures and treatment specific to the clinical need,

  • To demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection control, adhering to the highest standards when performing aseptic technique and complying with FH Infection Control Policies at all times.
  • To ensure patient records are maintained accurately in line with local and national standards, digital strategy, Information Governance and General Data Protection Regulations.
  • To respond effectivelyescalating any issues to the Nurse-in-Charge in a timely and appropriate manner, reporting these through the InPhase system incident reporting system.
  • Contribute to achieving individual, team, department and organisational objectives and quality targets, to maintain an excellent patient experience.
  • To ensure correct storage and rotation of Drugs and consumables within the departments.

Leadership

  • To support, supervise and assess all learners, students, temporary new and junior staff within the departments. Carry out all administrative and other duties that are required, working effectively to provide safe, evidence-based care

Training

  • To undertake learning to ensure you are up to date with mandatory training and appraisals.

Job responsibilities

To work as a member of the nursing team, under the direction of the OPD Senior team to provide the highest quality of competent, integrated nursing care and patient pathways within the department, supported by FH strategy, Values, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all patients receive safe, appropriate, competent treatment and care in accordance with local and national protocols and standards.
  • To deputize for department sister in their absence.
  • Expected to act as a role model delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team following the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and to ensure no duties are undertaken outside of the scope of RN competencies.
  • To ensure continuity of nursing care by using effective communication with the multidisciplinary team by using various platforms of communication.
  • Providing leadership, inspiring others.
  • To support, supervise and assess all learners, students, temporary new and junior staff within the departments.
