Looking to make a meaningful difference in the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people?

We're seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Supervising Practitioner to join our team in Bakewell.

As a key member of our service, you'll deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs and provide expert clinical supervision to our dedicated Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's) and amazing trainees.

Main duties of the job

You'll bring a solid foundation in mental health or a related field, supported by a nationally recognised qualification such as EMHP, CWP, mental health nursing, psychotherapy, or social work.

This must meet the MHST training requirements and be registered with the appropriate governing body, such as BABCP or NMC. With at least two years of experience working therapeutically to support the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people, you'll have a proven ability to deliver evidence-based interventions and achieve meaningful outcomes.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a Postgraduate Certificate in supervision or management (or a willingness to undertake this qualification).
  • Demonstrates expertise in CBT-informed interventions and clinical supervision, ideally in education or community settings.
  • Is skilled in risk assessment, safeguarding, and collaborative work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Possesses excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Holds a full driving licence and access to a vehicle (or equivalent).

Desirable attributes include mentorship experience, leadership in children's services, and working in a skill-mixed team.

A postgraduate therapeutic qualification or equivalent experience, particularly in low-intensity CBT, is highly valued.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Core professional and/or clinical qualification (e.g. EMHP,PMHW, nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work) and must be committed to maintaining registration if applicable
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision (EMHP supervisor course) or Two years post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people and willingness to undertake a PG Certificate in Supervision.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Management / supervision training
  • Therapeutic post graduate qualification or equivalent experience ideally in low intensity CBT.
  • Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Mentorship qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Two years post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people e.g., as an EMHP/CYP-IAPT practitioner
  • Experience of line management and/or delivery of clinical supervision
  • Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings
  • Experience of working in a community and/or educational
  • Experience of effective engagement with CYPF
  • Risk assessment and management in the delivery of clinical services (including
  • safeguarding)
