Job summary

A Support Worker at St. Magnus Hospital plays a vital role in assisting patients with their daily needs, ensuring their comfort, and promoting independence wherever possible.

The role involves providing both practical and emotional support, working closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. Tasks may include helping patients with personal care, mobility, meals, and social activities, as well as maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

This position is ideal for someone compassionate, patient, and dedicated to making a positive impact on others lives. Previous experience working within a mental health setting would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver a high standard of inpatient care in partnership with the wider clinical team, the service users and their family members/carers.

To support the named nurse/primary nurse in the assessment of needs for a group of patients and deliver their care under supervision

To work within a team of nurses and other professionals who are committed to the delivery of a quality service.

To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period.

To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, assisting in the formulating of care plans and utilising skills to inform patient assessments and evaluations.

To contribute to the information recorded on the patient information system by reporting to nursing staff on patients presentations throughout the shift.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Desirable

  • Completion the Care Certificate
  • Other Diplomas including Level 2 or any short courses.
