Job summary

Rivendell is in the village of Eastry near Sandwich and is one of 6 Rehabilitation Units across Kent, which provides inpatient recovery and rehabilitation for individuals with complex mental health and psychological needs. The unit comprises of 10 single bedrooms and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Rivendell prides itself in delivering specialist individualised and tailored recovery programmes to meet individual needs and optimise independence.

Main duties of the job

The Support Worker (Band 3) is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to:

  • Deliver an effective and competent level of care under the guidance and supervision of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and as determined by the patient's care plan.
  • Be fully aware of the needs of patients over a 24-hour span of care.
  • Monitor, report and maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace by knowing and taking account of: Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), Reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations (1985), Control of substance Hazardous to Health (1985), European H&S Regulations (1992)-Numbers 1-6, Food Act (1996), Adhere to Trust policies and local service protocols.
  • Professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Nursing.
  • Operationally accountable to the Matron / Clinical Service Manager.

Person Specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • Completed Care certificate
  • Health or Social Care Qualification (level 3 or equivalent)

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working within Mental Health setting

Desirable

  • NHS experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates a good understanding of mental health conditions appropriate to the setting.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of a registered practitioner
  • Experience in communicating effectively to a wide range of people.
  • Experience in record interventions in a timely manner
