An exciting opportunity has become available to work on the Portering Helpdesk as a switchboard helpdesk operator at Castle Hill Hospital.

The post is to cover a 37.5 hour position, however you will be required to participate in a Bank Holiday Rota

We are seeking a dependable and motivated individual who possesses excellent communication skills who works well under pressure. You will require a confident telephone manner and proven customer service skills.

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

The helpdesk role supports the co-ordination of portering resources; allocating and dispatching tasks, based on importance and urgency, as well as routine activities to support patient flow throughout our hospitals.

Answering calls from colleagues requesting non-patient transport; liaising with couriersand booking tasks.

Working as part of a team, multitasking and liaising with Trust colleagues are a key part of the role.

Portering and non-patient transport desk duties are a key function of this role which also operates from the switchboard area. Full training will be provided.

Person Specification

Education /Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of secondary education to GCSE level or equivalent

  • NVQ customer care or equiv

Skills/Knowledge

  • Work under pressure
  • Basic IT skills with a knowledge of Microsoft office based applications

  • Previous switchboard/telephone experience
  • Knowledge of NHS
